Classic AS I LAY DYING Lineup Might Be Reuniting
After releasing a teaser of new music this past Friday (above video), there is speculation that at least some of As I Lay Dying's "classic" line up will be reuniting with frontman Tim Lambesis. Due to animosity from the rest of the band at the time of Lambesis' arrest for attempting to hire a hitman to murder his ex-wife, it was assumed the vocalist would be recruiting a whole new line up to release new music. Now after analysis of the video, courtesy of Lambgoat, it's believed at least some of the classic members have returned. From Lambgoat:
Jordan Mancino (drums): the drums (DW, etc.) look to be more or less identical to those recently used by Mancino; the kit set-up is quite similar to his; the drumsticks appear to be the same kind Mancino typically uses; the end of the video shows the drummer having long blonde hair
Josh Gilbert (bass): the tattoos on both arms match almost perfectly; the bassist is wearing Gilbert's favorite jean vest (if that's not Gilbert, then somebody is deliberately making it look like it is)
Nica Hipa (lead guitar): the tattoos and lack thereof match; the fretting and picking posture look quite similar
Phil Sgrosso (rhythm guitar): the tattoos and lack thereof match; fretting and fingers are nearly identical; appears to be a guitar he's used in the past
With Wovenwar being pretty silent and Metal Blade Records, both band's most recent label, declining comment from Metalsucks.net, it seems like we're getting at least close to a full reunion of the band. And with fan response being mostly warm to recent As I Lay Dying activity, there's a chance of the reunion being successful if the band can still deliver on the music side.
