MUSE Debuts Spacey New Song "Thought Contagion"
British rockers Muse have just released a new song and music video titled "Thought Contagion" from an as-of-yet unnamed album to be released in the future. Most likely late 2018 or early 2019. It continues the band's known trend of political themes. In an interview with Rolling Stone, frontman Matt Bellamy shared the inspiration for the song:
"Probably watching American news stations. We're living in an age where these sort of ideologies, people's belief systems, whether they are true or false, are getting a lot of air time, especially ones on the false side. I think that we're living in an unusual period where a lot of airtime is being given to crazy ideas. The flip side is that we're living in a time where pointing out someone's inaccuracies, using science for example, is becoming increasingly difficult. Sometimes it's even perceived as an insensitive thing to do."
The track features some groovy basslines, boomy drums, and eerie sci-fi sound samples that all sound very Muse. The metaphors in the music video are pretty on the nose and include some homages to other Muse songs such as "Dead Inside" and their single "Dig Down" which was released last year. You can watch the video for the track below.
