The team up of Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Anthrax’s Frank Bello make for an interesting pairing. And the result is a very fun rock and roll record. Bello takes up the vocal helm for the project while both Ellefson and Bello recorded guitars and bass for the record. Jeff Friedl of A Perfect Circle handled the drum duties.

It’s easy to tell the duo had fun with the project as the vibe on the album is high energy and fun. It gives the impression of a bunch of guys in a garage jamming together. Taking all the best parts of old school hard rock while leaving most of the cheesiness at the door. The style is kind of reminiscent of Foo Fighters with most of the songs being mid-tempo drivers with a slight punk tilt. Hooky choruses and accessible riffs are put before virtuosity making for an easy to get into record. Yet the songwriting is so strong that it avoids the pitfalls most bands of this style of rock fall into.

Get It Out is quality rock and roll fun buoyed by the songwriting strength of two music veterans from legendary bands. And a a highly recommended listen for those wanting the fun put back into their hard rock.

Score: 3.5/5
