REVIEW: “The Fear” By BEAUTY IN SILENCE (Instrumental Metal)

Instrumental Metal/Independent/Released June 25, 2018

The Fear is the debut EP from solo music project Beauty In Silence. Composed of three all instrumental tracks, the music takes influence from progressive rock, traditional metal, and modern metal.

The tracks strike a balance between dreamy atmosphere and direct riffs with an affinity for twin guitar harmonies providing ambiance. There’s also a hint of metalcore influence, especially on “Swim”, with usage of chuggy riffs and breakdowns.

With the music being very riff focused and each track clocking in under four minutes, it’s more accessible than most instrumental works that either focus on technical virtuosity or long winded atmospheric songs that lack hooks. The squeaky clean production may turn off some heavier music fans who prefer more rawness in their riffage. But The Fear is a solid first outing for The Beauty In Silence project.

Score: 3/5
