Check Out The New EP By Hard Rockers OCTALUX, "Noize In The Blood"
Hard Rock/Independent/Released June 1st, 2018
Originally formed in 1999, Kentucky rock & rollers Octalux embarked on several tours, released four albums, and shared the stage with the likes of L.A. Guns and Jackyl before going on hiatus in 2010. The band returned in 2015 with an LP titled [atomic] and have been active ever since. This past June, Octalux released a new five song EP titled Noize In The Blood. While the band has mixed a number of styles into their sound including alternative, punk, and heavy metal, Noize In The Blood doubles down on the hard rock with memorable blues based riffs and ripping solos while still maintaining a strong level of diversity.
"Testament" opens the record with a swagger-filled groove in its verses and upbeat bluesy licks in its chorus that lead into an emotive solo courtesy of lead guitarist Tony Dell'Ofarno. A favorite on the record is "Doomsday Cupid" which is accompanied by a music video. The song is an upbeat headbanger with an arena ready chorus that's sure to be a favorite among fans.
"Ya Gotta Feel" and "Inside Is The World" are the faster, adrenaline fueled tracks of the record. The former leans towards Judas Priest-esque speed metal in its riffage while the latter takes a more straightforward, punk approach. The record closes with the title track, a slower tempo, groove rocker with well layered guitar work that adds an epic vibe to close out the EP.
Noize In The Blood makes for a strong addition to the Octalux discography with it's modern hard rock direction that leaves the cheese at the door. Despite its short 20 minute length it displays a strong level of diversity with zero filler. A worthwhile listen for rock fans bored of the stale radio glaze that adorns many modern hard rock records.
